Basic TappingMode Operation

This section outlines the basic operational procedures involved in obtaining data in TappingMode.

Probe Requirements:

• General purpose imaging: TESP, RTESP (silicon cantilevers)
  
• Light tapping on soft samples: FESP
  
• Hard tapping on soft samples: LTESP
• Fluid applications: DNP or NP (4 cantilevers per probe 0.06–0.58 N/m with gold reflective coating)

1. Set Up the Experiment
2. Scanner, Probe, and Sample Preparation
3. Locate the Probe Tip
4. Focus Surface
5. Tune the Cantilever
6. Check Initial Scan Parameters
7. Engage and Scan
